Ms Martinez is known for successfully developing coloratura, lyric, spinto, dramatic soprano, baritones and tenor voices, with special focus on Italian repertoire such as Verdi, Bellini, and Puccini, among others. Her students have excelled in international competitions, auditions and prestigious graduate school programs including Manhattan School of Music, McGill University, the San Francisco Conservatory and Mannes School of Music in New York. She teaches in Munich and France.

Ms Martinez’ teaching technique is based on the time-honoured traditions handed down by the masters of Bel Canto instruction with whom she studied. When one hears Ms Martinez perform, the proof of her understanding of every aspect of the voice is immediately evident, encompassing technique, interpretation, dramatic expression and musicality. Furthermore, her students’ singing clearly reveals her ability to impart the musical knowledge she has amassed from her many years in Europe. Ms Martinez attends to individual needs and challenges, and her emphasis on breath control, blending registers, development of range and projection results in the achievement of technical ease and vocal beauty.

Canadian soprano Emily Dorn is a former student of Ms. Martinez. In the 2014-17 season Emily sings the role of Susanna in the Semperoper Dresden’s new production of Le Nozze di Figaro. She also sings Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte), Micaëla (Carmen), Musetta (La Boheme) and Adele (Die Fledermaus) with the Semperoper Dresden, and made her role debut as Mimi with Opera Southwest. Listen to Emily sing Violetta’s Aria on YouTube
